Contraceptive Patches and Vaginal Rings
Contraceptive Patch
The patch is a small, sticky patch that releases hormones through your skin to prevent pregnancy.
It works like the combined pill and contains the same hormones — oestrogen and progestogen.
You can wear it anywhere on your body (except your breasts) as long as your skin is clean, dry, and not too hairy.
Who can use it?
The patch isn’t suitable for everyone, so get in touch to speak to a doctor or nurse for advice.

Vaginal Ring
The vaginal ring is a small, flexible ring placed inside your vagina once a month.
It releases two hormones — oestrogen and progestogen — to prevent pregnancy.
After your first fitting with a Doctor or nurse, you’ll be able to insert and remove it yourself.
Your clinician will check your medical history to make sure it’s suitable for you.
